The Cultural Association of the Filloa de Lestedo, El Corte Inglés of Santiago de Compostela and the City Council of Boqueixón presented today the traditional action of promotion of the XLII Festival of the Filloa de Lestedo, which will take place in the cafeteria of El Corte Inglés in the coming days. Thus, from today, Friday, until 4 March, a Lestedo filloeira will prepare this traditional product of Galician gastronomy, so typical of Carnival, in the shopping centre.
The tenth edition of these days was presented by the mayor of Boqueixón, Ovidio Rodeiro; the regional head of El Corte Inglés in Galicia – Asturias in the areas of Consumer Goods, Gourmet Club and Hospitality, Raúl Vázquez; the president of the Cultural Association of the Filloa de Lestedo, José Manuel Canabal; and the councillor for Tourism, José Luís Mareque.
Ovidio Rodeiro thanked El Corte Inglés for this decade of collaboration with the promotion of the Lestedo Filloa Festival, which has been declared of National Tourist Interest. ‘A recognition of the work of the residents of the parish of Lestedo to promote such a traditional product of ours as the filloa. A distinction that today we want to share with the people responsible for El Corte Inglés for these ten years supporting actions such as this tasting that serve to raise awareness of the festival among the thousands of people who pass through the shopping centre’, remarked Rodeiro Tato.
For his part, Raúl Vázquez highlighted ‘the link between El Corte Inglés and local products and traditional products that are so closely linked to the identity of Galician gastronomic culture, such as the filloa’. For this reason, he expressed ‘the satisfaction of El Corte Inglés for being able to maintain the traditional filloa tasting, through which we manage to bring the filloa closer to our customers and at the same time bring them closer to the Lestedo Filloa Festival, which this year is being recognised as a Festival of National Tourist Interest’.
Finally, José Manuel Canabal stressed that this tasting ‘allows us to remind the thousands of people who pass through El Corte Inglés every weekend that on Sunday 9 March they have an appointment with the Lestedo Filloa Festival, which helps us to attract more and more visitors every year’.
From today until 4 March, from 13:00 to 16:30, a filloeira de Lestedo will be making filloas in the cafeteria of El Corte Inglés in Santiago de Compostela, which customers will receive free with every drink.
